David Motley, Chairman of the Mortgage Bankers Association, is President of Colonial Savings, F.A. and its divisions — Colonial National Mortgage and CU Members Mortgage.

Colonial Savings, a federally chartered thrift institution headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, maintains a network of eight depository branches in the DFW Metroplex and 21 loan production offices around the country.  Colonial now services more than $26 billion in residential home mortgages.    David has been an active member of MBA for more than two decades and has served in a variety of roles during that time including:

  • 6 years as a member of the Board of Directors
  • 8 years on MBA’s Residential Board of governors, 2 as Chairman
  • 2017 Chairman of MBA’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
  • 2015 Co-Chair of the Servicing21 Working Group, and more.

Recognized for his service to the industry, David is a recipient of MBA’s Andrew D. Woodard Distinguished Service.  Dedicated to grassroots advocacy, he has also been an active member of the Texas MBA (TMBA) since 1995, serving in several capacities as Secretary/Treasurer for the Board of Directors, Convention Chairman, and Board member from 1999 to 2005. In 2015 and 2016, David served as a member of the Community Bank Advisory Counsel for the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau.

David has a B.A. degree in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin, is a graduate of the School of Mortgage Banking, and holds a Certified Mortgage Banker designation.


Marissa Blundell, JD
CliftonLarsonAllen LLP Principal and Chief Operating Officer, CLA Bankers Advisory

Marissa Blundell serves as principal and chief operating officer at CLA Bankers Advisory. CLA acquired Bankers Advisory, Inc. on January 1, 2014.

Marissa joined CLA Bankers Advisory in 2009. She oversees all mortgage quality control and compliance monitoring services provided to more than 100 financial institutions ranging in asset size. Marissa also provides mortgage compliance training to clients and industry trade associations. Along with CLA Bankers Advisory’s founder, Anna DeSimone, Marissa contributes to the publication of industry resources.  Marissa serves on the Board of Directors for the Community Development Corporation of Boston, is a member of the Mortgage Action Alliance steering committee and the Massachusetts Mortgage Bankers legislative committee. She is admitted to the Massachusetts Bar.


Richard J. Bryan

At age 28, Richard Bryan applied his unique skillset of strategic business practices and elite talent recognition and recruiting to turn a once failing company into a business that to this day remains both competitive and prosperous.

Richard is now an accomplished author and speaker who shares these unique skills to help business leaders recruit and retain top level talent and drive future business success. Colleen M. Capossela, Esq.,

Colleen M. Capossela, Esq. is President of CATICPro, Inc., a subsidiary of CATIC Financial, Inc. and a sister company to CATIC®, offering bonds and various insurance products including E&O, Professional Liability, Crime, Fidelity and Cyber coverages.  She is also Director of Internal Compliance and Audit for CATIC.  Colleen is an attorney and licensed insurance producer.  She speaks regionally on risk management topics.  She was selected in 2016 by the National Law Journal as a 2016 Cybersecurity Trailblazer for her educational efforts.  Before joining CATIC and taking on the role as President of CATICPro, Colleen was in private practice in Connecticut, concentrating primarily on business law, commercial real estate, lender representation and commercial financing.

Kathleen Caswell, CMB, AMP
Account Executive, Freddie Mac

Kathleen Caswell, CMB, AMP joined Freddie Mac in 2001 as an Account Executive. Kathleen has represented Freddie Mac in New England, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania and Ohio during her tenure. As an Account Executive, managing and building new relationships with Lenders is a key component of her position. In addition, her commitment to education for her lenders includes training on relevant programs, industry insight, execution, operational, and marketing strategies that keep her lenders up-to-date and competitive in their markets.

Kathleen is the 2016 Past Chair of the Massachusetts Mortgage Bankers Association and a Past President of the Massachusetts Mortgage Bankers Foundation. She was the Chair of the New England Mortgage Bankers Conference Planning Committee for the past 5 years. She is a past President of the Rhode Island Mortgage Bankers Association and the Massachusetts Mortgage Bankers Foundation.

Kathleen has earned both her Certified Mortgage Banking Certification and Accredited Mortgage Professional. She is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University. Kathleen continues to reside in Rhode Island with her husband where they both share a passion for sailing the waters of New England.


Mark Daniels
Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Info-Pro Lender Services, Inc.

Mark Daniels joined Info-Pro as the Manager – Tax Research in April 2010 and has lead the Sales and Marketing Department since 2015. His previous business experience includes 22 years of leadership in operations, management, sales, customer service, and consumer response. He has been trained in Lean Six Sigma and Consultative Selling. Mark earned his Masters of Business Administration Degree from the University of Wisconsin Whitewater in May, 2007. He graduated from St. Norbert College with a Business Administration Degree in May, 1989.

Sarah Federico
Senior Vice President-Sales, XINNIX

Sarah proved her incredible talent, intuition, and dedication to the mortgage industry early in her career. During her eight-year tenure at Quicken, she advanced from mortgage banker to executive mortgage banker and was the recipient of several industry honors, including the President’s Club and Top Revenue Producer. She was responsible for maintaining a production level of $36 million annually and became a respected mentor for rookie loan officers.

Sarah has served as the head of multiple departments at XINNIX, including sales, marketing, and business development. She has become a trusted advisor and consultant to mortgage executives for customizing learning and development plans. Sarah specializes in creating solutions for mortgage companies around the country, leading to increased sales production, stronger leadership, and a more sustainable business model. She has a wealth of knowledge about the programs and services that meet our customers’ needs. Sarah attributes her success to a relentless dedication to serving our clients.

Outside of the office, Sarah enjoys running, traveling, reading, sailing, being outdoors with her husband and two dogs, and volunteering in her community.

Meghan Handy
Marketing & Customer Experience Manager, Embrace Home Loans

As someone who grew up in the mortgage industry, Meghan brings a unique perspective to the New England Mortgage Expo. Over the past 20 years, she has done it all when it comes to mortgages—lending, processing, marketing, sales, bank/non-bank, and retail/direct. Meghan began her career as a loan officer, and moved on to run her own title search company for nearly nine years. After that, she was responsible for vendor management at Equity National Title & Closing, and ultimately became Director of Marketing at the same organization. Her favorite part of her job at Equity National was working with loans officers to build their businesses.

Currently, she is leading the digital customer experience, along with social and content marketing efforts, at Embrace Home Loans. As mortgage technology is finally enabling lenders to reduce the time and cost of originating loans, Meghan is focused on implementing true digital transformation at Embrace. She is wholly focused on how digital will change the way the customer interacts with their mortgage lender through the marketing journey, all the way to servicing and beyond. Meghan believes great digital experiences don’t take the place of human relationships—but enhances them—and will make loan officers more successful moving forward.

Meghan studied Marketing at the University of Richmond, holds an Acxiom Digital University Certification, and she’s an ICF Associate Certified Coach. She lives in Warwick, Rhode Island with her husband and three kids, ages 17, 15, and 12. All of her children play hockey and lacrosse, so she can often be found cheering them on from the sidelines. Finally, as an Ocean State native, she enjoys boating during her free time.

David Javaheri
President and CEO Direct IT

David has been in the IT and security  industry for over 25 years. He started Direct IT in 2004. David got his BS from Northeastern University in Electrical Engineering, and double majored for his Master’s degree in Computer Science and Mathematics.

David has been involved with three technology startups after his collegiate and graduate education: NPC computers, which grew to 105 employees; a second company which is still operating and  grew to 144 employees before David moved on and started Direct iT, his third and final IT startup, to focus on security and managed services.

Jason C Jefferies
Lending Manger, Affordable Lending and Access Credit, Freddie Mac

Jason C Jefferies is a Lending Manger in the division of Affordable lending and access to credit at Freddie Mac. Mr. Jefferies is responsible for creating, implementing and executing affordable lending strategies for financial institutions nationwide. These strategies foster economic empowerment, increase loan production and embrace CRA lending requirements.

Prior to his current role, he assisted in creating and implementing plans, policies and strategies to ensure CRA examination success for a $42 Billion-dollar national bank, as the Senior Community Development officer.

Mr. Jefferies is a board member of the New York Mortgage Coalition, has a Master of Business Administration with a concentration of Finance and Management, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. He credits his energetic approach to life and expertise to his faith, years of service to communities nationwide, successful entrepreneurial endeavors and his family.

R.J. Lyman
Senior Advisor, ML Strategies; Of Counsel, Mintz Levin; Founding Director, Freedom for America; Partner, ELK Capital Partners

R.J. provides real estate and energy clients with hands-on advice when they build major projects, close substantial transactions and pursue other tangible and strategic objectives. R.J. has served as a government official, overseeing environmental review under Governor Weld of the Big Dig and Boston Harbor Clean-up and thousands of other projects, administering the Permit Streamlining Initiative and authoring comprehensive MEPA reform.

After leaving government, R.J. was an equity partner for over a decade at a national AmLaw 50 law firm, and, at the beginning of his career, he worked as a project manager at a consulting engineering concern managing development projects across New England. R.J. has also been a corporate executive, as President and COO of an energy technology company, raising over $75 million, deploying a commercial prototype, initiating a programmatic joint venture, and entering into a successful change of control transaction.

R.J. has also worked as an entrepreneur, co-founding an independent power producer, which established unrivaled market information and entered into an exclusive license for project development, after which he sold his interest for 1.6X invested capital. R.J. has served as a for-profit and non-profit corporate director. Notwithstanding his legal training and experience, he has routinely been tasked with service on the Audit and Finance Committees given his attention to detail and insistence on good practice.

Mike Krone
Vice President, Kriss Law

Mike is an innovative and forward-thinking entrepreneur currently overseeing the management and operation of title and escrow services for a national provider with of over 800 residential real estate closings per month and $6.5 billion in annual closing transactions. Mike has served under corporate structure as Vice President, Special Counsel and Massachusetts State Manager for a Fortune 400 title insurance company directing Massachusetts operations with 1800 attorney agents and annual premium revenue of $125 million.  Mike is a seasoned attorney in real estate, contract and business law.


Mike’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to become the CEO & Founder of ClosingCounsel.com, where he worked with in-house developers to build a successful dotcom company specializing in web based real estate closing applications.


Mike is a seasoned communicator both as a former trial attorney and as a senior lecturer for 18 years at Northeastern University. He is a sought-after speaker on real estate law and practice, the mortgage industry, cybercrime and marketing to thousands of Realtors, Lawyers and Lenders.

Dan McGrew
Chief Operating Officer, Pasavo

As Chief Operating Officer, Dan plans and develops strategies for cultivating business and achieving sales goals, in addition to managing the sales team, operations and resources. He has over 30 years of sales experience and over 25 specifically in sales management.

Dan has had significant experience with startups, including building company infrastructure, developing sales groups, setting direction and growing revenue. He helped to start two companies which, under his leadership, went on to grow their sales from zero to over $10 million and $30 million in sales.

Gene D. Ross, CPA
Executive Vice President, Strategy and Business Development, LoanCare

 Gene Ross is the Executive Vice President of Strategy and Business Development at LoanCare, a ServiceLink company and a subsidiary of Fidelity National Financial. LoanCare, headquartered in Virginia Beach, Virginia with secondary operations in Jacksonville, Florida and Chandler, Arizona.  LoanCare subservices over 1,100,000 loans in 50 states, approximating $220 billion in loan balances. Mr. Ross was the former President of LoanCare for 24 years.   In his current position, Mr. Ross is responsible for strategy and driving business by bringing forth additional prospects for portfolio growth and product diversity. With these responsibilities, Mr. Ross’s goal is to further increase LoanCare’s current market share while allowing the opportunity to capture new markets within the industry.

Mr. Ross was raised in Florida and has been in banking and financial services for over 30 years. As a certified public accountant he spent 10 years inf public accounting experience. Previously, Mr. Ross served as president of four federally chartered thrift savings banks. Mr. Ross and his wife are longtime residents of Virginia Beach, where they raised their two children.

Mr. Ross graduated from Florida State University where he earned his bachelor of business administration and accounting degrees. He has participated in Florida State University’s guest speaker series and has spoken to their business school graduating class about mortgage finance. Also, Mr. Ross has been a guest speaker for local colleges. Mr. Ross is very involved in the community, where he participates in fundraising for charitable donations

Stephen Ross
Professor of Economics and Phillip A. Austin Chair in Public Policy, University of Connecticut

Stephen L. Ross is a Professor of Economics and holds the Phillip A. Austin Chair in Public Policy at the University of Connecticut. Professor Ross’s research has primarily focused on housing and mortgage lending discrimination, residential and school segregation, neighborhood and peer effects, and state and local governments. He has published in prestigious academic journals including the Journal of Political Economy, Review of Economics and Statistics, The Economic Journal, the American Economic Journal-Economic Policy, Social Problems and the Journal of Urban Economics, and published The Color of Credit with MIT Press in 2002.

His research has been funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the FannieMae Foundation, the Ford Foundation, the MacArthur Foundation, Institute for Education Sciences and the National Institutes of Health. Professor Ross also has consulted for Abt Associates, FannieMae, the National Consumer Law Center, the New York State Attorney General’s office, and the Urban Institute. He also edits the Urban and Real Estate Economics working paper announcement service for New Papers in Economics (NEP).
